Quick tips:

·    Minimize salting on pavements next to plantings
& turf to avoid salt damage.  Use an alternate
product that melts ice but does not contain salt.

·    Monitor outside woody plants for evidence of
rodent, rabbit or deer damage.  Keep snow away
from base of plants that show signs of gnawing.

·    Weather permitting, dormant pruning can be done
in February on some woody plants.  Avoid pruning
birch, elm, maple and walnut at this time as sap
movement may stop cuts from healing.
